Airbender Reviews, Force Unleashed Coming to The Big Screen? Hostel 3, and more!

So, has everybody been having a good week? Well, I'm sorry I have to ruin it for you with some of the next pieces of news (Twilight, urgh...), but that's life for you. On with the show!

The Last Airbender Review Roundup

The guys over at Den of Geek have been kind enough to gather together some of the various reviews coming out from the States about M. Night Shyamalan's movie adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. I wasn't putting too much stock into this film in the first place, but are the reviewers just being nasty to fit in with the crowd? You tell me...

Twilight Eclipse Breaks Box Office Record

ALREADY. It would appear that teenage girls are by far the best market to aim your product at, with Twilight Eclipse bringing in $30m on the midnight launch at 4,000 screens. Whilst other films are struggling to earn the $100m mark, I can see that being an easy target for this film. When will it end!?

Force Unleashed Making It To The Big Screen?

Executive Producer of The Force Unleashed Haden Blackman recently told CVG that there are currently ideas being floated about on the possibility of The Force Unleashed, or characters from it, making it to the big (or possibly small) screen. At least we won't have to put up with the poor controls with a big screen adaptation.

Timecrimes Director Goes Extraterrestrial

Nacho Vigalondo, director of Timecrime, is working on a small Sci-Fi film going by the name of Extraterrestrial. The plan sounds a bit like Cloverfield, focusing on a small group of survivors instead of the overall invasion by the aliens, so this is yet another film to add to the 'interested' list.

Hostel 3 In Las Vegas

Bloody Disgusting have exclusively revealed that Sony Stage 6 (the guys that did the Direct to DVD sequel to 30 Days Of Night) is getting ready to shoot the third installment of Eli Roth's Hostel series. This time set in Las Vegas...who wants to bet "What happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" pops up at least once?

Fable 3 Goes Episodic

Kotaku have revealed that Lionhead are planning on releasing Fable 3 as downloadable Episodic content (along with the full retail edition), as a way to entice people into buying the game. The first hours of the game will be free to play, allowing people to get used to what the game is like, and then players will be offered the next piece of the game for purchase. This is a system that I wish other developers would take, rather than a demo that shows "the best bits."

That's all from me today, I'll be back tomorrow with more of the latest and greatest Sci-Fi, Fantasy, and Horror news.

  1. Having never actually gotten around to watching the carton 'Avatar', I am however intrigued to see the movie. I have the feeling most of those bad reviews are just reveiwers jumping on the bandwagon. I don't really have much time for Shyamalan these days, but maybe a change of genre will brighten things up for him...

    (Also - Twilight - UGH)
